The circular mausoleum north of the Cathedral holds the remains of Jalisco's most distinguished citizens — artists, politicians, writers, scientists, and generals who shaped the state's history. The Rotonda was established in 1952 and now houses over 90 notable figures, including the composer José Pablo Moncayo (who wrote Huapango, essentially Mexico's unofficial second national anthem) and the muralist José Clemente Orozco.
The space is open and well-maintained, with a ring of columns and busts around a central monument. It sits between the Cathedral and the Plaza de la Liberación — easy to miss if you walk past quickly, worth pausing at if you have any interest in Mexican history.
