Beyond the Orozco murals — which are the main reason most visitors come — the Instituto Cultural Cabañas is a functioning arts centre with a regular programme of temporary exhibitions, theatre, dance, and film. The building's 23 courtyards and elegant Neoclassical architecture make it an excellent venue; events here tend to have a production quality above what you find in comparable provincial cities.
The gift shop has well-curated reproductions of the Orozco murals and high-quality Jalisco craft items. The cafe in one of the inner courtyards is a pleasant place to sit out of the sun after touring the murals.
