Faro de la Marina

Squat striped lighthouse on the Miraflores Malecón

The Faro de la Marina is a 22-metre red-and-white striped lighthouse on the Malecón Cisneros in Miraflores — built in 1900 to guide ships into Callao, originally on the Punta peninsula, and moved here in 1973 when modern navigation made it redundant in its original location. It is a small but iconic feature of the Miraflores skyline.

The lighthouse is not open to visitors but the small park around it is a favourite spot for photographs at sunset, when the white tower is silhouetted against the Pacific. Joggers, dog-walkers, and food vendors share the lawn in the early evening.
