The Chenghua District in the north of Chengdu is largely residential and industrial, but is the direction to travel for the Panda Base, Zhaojue Temple, and the buses to Sanxingdui. The area around Zhaojue Temple has several interesting temple buildings and a smaller, less-visited zoo. The neighbourhood is genuinely non-touristy and gives a sense of how 16 million people actually live in Chengdu away from the historic centre.
