Jinsha Archaeological Site is one of Chengdu's strongest museum stops, built around the remains of a Bronze Age settlement associated with the ancient Shu culture. The museum gives context to the gold, jade, ivory, and ritual objects found here, including the sun-bird motif that has become one of Chengdu's civic symbols.
The site is especially useful because it broadens Chengdu beyond pandas, teahouses, and Sichuan food. Give it enough time for both the excavation hall and the galleries; the best exhibits are archaeological, but the landscaped grounds make the visit feel less like a conventional indoor museum.
