Hussain Agahi is the long retail street that runs east from the Clock Tower into the walled city, and the spine of the Multan bazaar district. Brass and copper hammered into trays and water pots, machine-embroidered shawls, plastic kitchenware, motorcycle spares, gold jewellery and rolls of fabric all happen here, in roughly that order as you walk east. The food side of the same street comes alive after sunset, with a long row of stalls selling chaat, bun kebabs, jalebi, kulfi and grilled fish.
It is loud, crowded and not entirely tourist-friendly — pickpockets work the busiest stretches — but it is one of the more atmospheric urban experiences in southern Punjab.
