The Multan Arts Council, established in 1975 on Qasim Road in the Civil Lines area, is the city's main centre for music, theatre and visual arts. It runs a small permanent gallery, hosts a weekly programme of plays in Saraiki, Urdu and English, and stages classical music concerts during the cooler months. Its annual Saraiki Adabi Mela (literary festival) in February draws writers from across southern Punjab.
The building is not architecturally interesting, but it is the best place in the city to find out what is on culturally — particularly if you want to hear Saraiki kafi sung properly.
