Muratpaşa is the central borough of Antalya, covering a large swathe of the modern city stretching north from the old town. It contains the Antalya Museum, the Atatürk Caddesi shopping street, and the city's main commercial and residential fabric. Most visitors move through it on the way between Kaleiçi and the museum, but the backstreets around the Murat Paşa Mosque are genuinely pleasant to walk.
The neighbourhood has a good mix of traditional Turkish tea houses (çay bahçesi) and modern cafes. It is calmer and more local in character than the tourist concentration of Kaleiçi.
