Konyaaltı Beach is the city's main public beach, stretching for about 7 km along the western edge of Antalya below the limestone cliffs. It is a pebble beach rather than sand, which the locals prefer — the water is very clear and the beach drains cleanly after rain. The beach is lined with a mix of free public sections and paid beach clubs with loungers, parasols, showers, and cafes.
The AntalyaRay tram runs along the top of the cliffs above, making the beach easy to reach from the city centre without a car. The western end, near Akdeniz University, is generally quieter and cleaner. The beach is swimmable from May to October.
