Brooke Street Pier

A modern floating pier on the waterfront — Hobart's main ferry terminal and a tasting hall for Tasmanian produce

Address Franklin Wharf, Hobart
Admission Free; ferries from AU$25

The starting point for the MONA ferry, the Peppermint Bay catamaran to the Channel coast, and the Bruny Island ferry shuttle. Opened in 2013, the pier is a striking floating glass-and-steel building that rises and falls with the tide — a deliberate piece of contemporary architecture on a waterfront otherwise dominated by sandstone.

Inside is a curated ground-floor Tasmanian produce and artisan hall — Bruny Island cheese, Tasmanian whisky, leatherwood honey, Huon pine wares, hand-poured soaps. There is a wine bar, a café, and outdoor benches with views across the harbour to Mount Wellington. The pier is also where the ROMA ferry — the catamaran painted in a distinctive disruptive camouflage — leaves for MONA at 09:30 daily.
