The No Mafia Memorial in central Palermo, run by the Centro Siciliano di Documentazione "Giuseppe Impastato", traces the history of Cosa Nostra and of the civic resistance against it. Photographs, audio testimony, court documents, and the reconstructed murder scene of the journalist Mauro De Mauro line the small upstairs space.
The memorial does not pretend the mafia is over — the running displays cover continuing political and judicial investigations — and the curation is unsentimental. An hour will cover the main displays. The bookstall has hard-to-find Italian-language histories of the events covered.
