Palazzo Mirto

Palazzo Mirto, in the Kalsa, is one of the very few Palermo aristocratic palaces still furnished and dressable as the family left it. The Filangeri princes of Mirto donated the house and contents to the region in 1982; the rooms are now open as a museum.

The rooms preserve a chronology of taste from Rococo through to mid-19th-century historicism — chinoiserie cabinets, frescoed ballrooms, an embroidered audience chamber, a 17th-century painted dining room. The kitchen wing with its working batterie de cuisine is unusually complete. A modest entry fee.
