Eroilor Avenue ("Heroes' Avenue") connects Cluj's two great squares — Piața Unirii at the west end and Piața Avram Iancu at the east — and concentrates most of the central shopping and cafes between them. The avenue has been progressively pedestrianised and now bustles with terraces in summer.
At the western end stands the Capitoline Wolf statue; halfway along is the monument to the heroes of 1989, marking those killed in the Cluj demonstrations during the revolution. The walk takes ten minutes; with a stop for ice cream, half an hour.
