This is one of the greenest zones in the city. Parc de la Ciutadella was the first public park in Barcelona, built on the site of an 18th-century military fortress that was demolished in the 19th century.
Inside the park you will find the Geology and Zoology museums, a greenhouse, some curious sculptures and a boating lake. The Barcelona Zoo is next door, and the Catalan Parliament sits within the park grounds.
Locals love spending their weekends walking and relaxing here. It is a welcome escape from the busy streets of the Born neighbourhood just next door.
