Sant Pau del Camp is one of Barcelona's rare surviving Romanesque churches, a compact stone building that feels older and quieter than almost everything around it in El Raval. Its name, "Saint Paul of the Fields", recalls the time when this area lay outside the medieval city walls.
The simple nave, carved capitals, and small cloister make it a rewarding short visit for anyone interested in medieval Barcelona. It is close enough to La Rambla and Palau Guell to fold into a walk through the lower Raval.
