Dylan Thomas Centre

The Dylan Thomas Centre is the main archive and exhibition space for Swansea's most famous son. A permanent display, Love the Words, follows his life from Cwmdonkin Drive through his time in London, Laugharne and on his American reading tours, with manuscripts, letters, photographs and audio recordings of Thomas himself.

The building is a converted Victorian guildhall in the Maritime Quarter, with a good cafe and bookshop and a programme of readings and talks during the annual Dylan Thomas Festival each October–November. Free admission.

A story
When Dylan Thomas read 'Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night' aloud for the first time on stage, he is said to have done so right here in Swansea — at the Kardomah Cafe, with his circle of poet and artist friends listening.
