Housed in an Art Deco building on Washington Avenue, WEAM holds over 4,000 pieces of erotic art spanning centuries — from Rembrandt etchings and Picasso lithographs to Dalí sketches and Robert Mapplethorpe photographs. The collection was assembled by Naomi Wilzig, a Holocaust survivor turned banker turned art collector, and the museum opened in 2005. It is a genuinely interesting collection displayed with curatorial care, not the novelty shop the name might suggest. Worth a visit for the Rembrandt prints alone.
story: > Naomi Wilzig began collecting erotic art in her sixties after retiring as president of a New Jersey bank. By the time she opened the museum she had amassed one of the largest collections of its kind in the world.
