The Boston Marathon finish line is painted across Boylston Street near Copley Square, the endpoint of the world's oldest annual marathon. Most of the year it is a quick photo stop; on race day the whole area becomes the emotional centre of the city.
It is easy to fold into a Back Bay walk, especially with the Boston Public Library and Trinity Church nearby. The line also carries the memory of the 2013 bombing, so the mood here is more reflective than triumphant for many visitors.
