Copacabana Beach is one of Rio de Janeiro's defining sights: a long curve of sand backed by hotels, apartment towers and Roberto Burle Marx's black-and-white wave pavement. It is busy, urban and unmistakably part of the city.
Come for a walk, a swim in calm conditions, or the evening scene along the promenade. In summer, large free concerts sometimes fill the beach with huge crowds.
