Forough-al-Molk House

Restored Qajar mansion with painted glass and Qajar plasterwork

This Qajar-era merchant's house in the old quarter has been restored as a small museum and ethnographic exhibition. The main reception room is the highlight — coloured glass set into wooden lattice windows, walls covered in stucco painted with floral motifs, and an old ceiling with mirror inlay.

It is one of several restored houses in the Sang-e Siah district that together give a feel for how the merchant class of 19th-century Shiraz lived. Combine with the Shapouri House and a wander through the surrounding alleys.
