The Zinat-al-Molk house is the andaruni — the women's quarters — of the Qavam family compound, connected by an underground passage to the more public Qavam House (Naranjestan) across the alley. The architecture is similar: a central courtyard with a small pool, deep iwans on the long sides, and rooms decorated with mirror work and Qajar-era painted plaster.
Today it houses a small wax museum of famous Persian historical figures — Hafez, Saadi, Avicenna — which is less interesting than the building itself. Buy a combined ticket with the Qavam House; the two together give a clearer picture of how a wealthy 19th-century Persian household actually worked.
