Founded in 1932 and granted royal status by Queen Elizabeth II, the yacht club sits on a small headland at Walu Bay, north of the centre. It is the main yachting club in the country and the registration point for cruising yachts arriving in Fiji.
For the casual visitor the interest is the open-air bar and restaurant, with a wide deck looking out over the boats and across the harbour to the hills above the city. It is one of the most relaxed places in Suva for a beer at sundown.
