Sacred Heart Cathedral

The sandstone Catholic cathedral on Pratt Street, finished in 1902 from stone shipped over from quarries near Sydney. The two square towers and the rose window above the main door make it one of the most distinctive buildings in the centre.

It is still the main Catholic church for Fiji and is open most days outside services. The interior is plain and cool — a good escape from a hot afternoon in the streets around the market.
