La Mandria is a large former royal hunting estate beside Venaria Reale, now a regional park with woodland, meadows, historic buildings, and long walking and cycling routes. It is a good counterpoint to the formal palace visit: less polished, more spacious, and better for seeing how the Savoy court used the countryside around Turin.
