River Po Day Trip

Ferry and riverside walk from Murazzi to Monte dei Cappuccini

From the Murazzi, the imposing embankment built in the Napoleonic era, you can take the river ferry upstream to Moncalieri, past Valentino Park and the green hills reflected in the water. Stroll the tree-lined avenues of the Valentino to admire the 17th-century castle and the Botanical Gardens, then visit the Borgo Medievale, an impeccable reproduction of a 15th-century castle built for the 1884 Great Exhibition.

The old river landing stages have been transformed into cafes and restaurants, perfect for a "merenda sinoira," the typical light Piedmontese meal served between 5 and 7 p.m. Continue on foot over the Isabella bridge to reach Europa Park, then climb up to Monte dei Cappuccini for what Rousseau called "the most beautiful panoramic view in the world."
