Mausoleo della Bela Rosin

The Mausoleo della Bela Rosin is the neoclassical tomb of Rosa Vercellana, the morganatic wife of Victor Emmanuel II. The Savoy court would not allow her to be buried beside the king, so this separate mausoleum was built for her on the southern edge of Turin.

The building later fell into disrepair, was restored in the 2000s, and now serves a civic use. It is mainly for visitors with an interest in Savoy history or Turin's less central architecture, but the story behind it is unusually vivid.
