Matisa Cemetery

Matisa Cemetery is worth a quiet detour for its Soviet-era monument to Latvian revolutionaries of 1905. The memorial, built in the 1950s, uses a long relief wall and epitaphs to turn one corner of the cemetery into a compact political history site. There is also a smaller memorial to victims of the first Soviet occupation in 1940-1941.
