St. Gertrude Old Church is a brick neo-Gothic Lutheran church just outside Riga's old core. The present building is from the late 19th century, but it replaced earlier churches on the same site, long associated with Riga's German Lutheran community.
The church is worth a short detour for its tall spire, red-brick exterior, and unusually convincing Gothic Revival interior. It is a useful stop when walking between the Art Nouveau district and the eastern side of the centre.
