The Agricultural Palace (Dvorets Zemledeltsev) is one of Kazan's most photographed modern buildings, a wildly ornate Italian-Renaissance-style government office finished in 2010 just below the Kremlin walls on the Kazanka embankment. A giant bronze tree built into the central archway is the most striking feature; the rest is a confection of arches, columns, and pediments.
The building houses the Ministry of Agriculture and is not open to visitors. It is best seen from the embankment at dusk when the tree is lit. Together with the Kremlin walls and the river behind, it makes one of the city's most striking nighttime views.
