Victory Park is Kazan's main memorial landscape for the Second World War and later military commemoration. It combines open lawns, monuments, and displays in the Soviet civic style, making it very different from the Kremlin, mosques, and merchant streets of the old centre.
It is not an essential first stop, but it helps explain Kazan's 20th-century public memory. Visit if you are nearby or interested in how Russian cities use parks as places of ceremony as well as recreation.
