Gibraltar Point Lighthouse

Early 19th-century lighthouse on the Toronto Islands with a famously ghostly local story

Gibraltar Point Lighthouse has stood on the Toronto Islands since 1808, making it one of the oldest surviving landmarks around the harbour. Its white tower is a quiet stop away from the busier beaches and picnic lawns.

The lighthouse is also tied to one of Toronto's oldest ghost stories. Its first keeper, J.P. Radan Muller, disappeared in 1815, and later tales claimed his remains were found near the tower.
