Parque Tabladita

Quiet park with a children's playground on the city's east side

Parque Tabladita is a small green park on the eastern edge of the historic centre, on Calle Hernando Siles, much used by local families at weekends. It has tall eucalyptus trees, a children's playground, a couple of food carts selling api (a hot purple corn drink) and pasteles (fried cheese pastries), and a small open-air theatre that occasionally hosts free concerts. It is the kind of neighbourhood park that tourists never find but local life flows around.

A bench under one of the trees is a good spot to read a book in the late afternoon, while children play nearby and old men argue politics across the next table. Open from dawn to dusk.
