Futian District

Futian is Shenzhen's administrative and financial heart — the planned central district that contains the Civic Center, the Shenzhen Museum, the Convention and Exhibition Center, the Stock Exchange, and the Ping An Finance Centre. It's where the city's institutional face lives: broad boulevards, government plazas, the high-speed rail station connecting to Hong Kong, and the towers of the Futian CBD.

For visitors, Futian is the most convenient base for navigating the city — it's in the geographic centre, well served by multiple metro lines, and close to most of the main sights. It's also where the cross-border Futian station puts you on a train to Hong Kong in 14 minutes.

The district's character is formal and planned compared to the organic energy of Luohu or the creative districts of Nanshan. But Lianhuashan Park immediately to the north, and the cultural institutions around the Civic Center, make it a more interesting area than first impressions suggest.
