Shenzhen Library is part of the civic centre ensemble with Shenzhen Concert Hall. Designed by Arata Isozaki, the building contrasts a dark granite rear with a folded glass front.
It is mainly a stop for architecture-minded visitors, but the large public library also gives a clear view of Shenzhen's modern civic ambitions.
