OCT Bay is one of Shenzhen's most dramatic recent developments — a waterfront mixed-use district in Nanshan that has been built out over reclaimed land in the decade since 2010. The area combines luxury residential towers, a shopping strip, a beach, and a marina, and has attracted a cluster of upscale restaurants and bars along the waterfront promenade.
The centrepiece is a long artificial beach on the bay, backed by palm trees and the towers of the development. In summer it fills with city residents enjoying what passes for a seaside in Shenzhen. The sunsets here, with the Shenzhen Bay Bridge visible in the distance, are among the best in the city.
OCT Bay is a short taxi or Didi ride from OCT-LOFT and is often combined with a visit to the arts district.
