Iwaya Caves are two sea-cut caves on the far side of Enoshima, long treated as a sacred place linked to Enoshima Shrine. Pilgrims came here for centuries, and the caves still mix geology, religious statuary, and local folklore.
Visitors are given a candle for the darker sections. The walk out is part of the appeal: after crossing the island, you descend toward the rocky shore, enter the caves, and emerge close to Pacific views that can include Mount Fuji on a clear day.
