Bait Al Makham

Bait Al Makham is a restored fortified house on the inland side of Muscat. It dates from the early twentieth century and is worth a stop if you are interested in Omani domestic fort architecture without the scale and crowds of the larger forts.

The main draw is the view from the top, with the whitewashed building looking out across the dry hills and newer suburbs around the capital. It works best as a short detour while crossing the city rather than as a full afternoon sight.
