Qurum Natural Park

Qurum Natural Park is a strip of cultivated gardens and natural mangrove habitat behind Qurum Beach, one of the few genuinely green spaces in central Muscat. The park runs along a tidal creek channel where mangroves take hold; at high tide the creek fills and the mangroves reflect in still water, while at low tide the birds that feed in the mudflats — herons, egrets, sandpipers, and occasionally flamingos — are visible from the path along the edge. For anyone interested in birdwatching, it's worth more time than the modest setting might suggest.

The cultivated section of the park has lawns, flower beds, and children's play areas that make it a functional neighbourhood park. Omani families use it in the cooler evenings for picnics and walks. The combination of mangrove creek, beach, and garden in a single accessible area gives Qurum a character different from anywhere else in Muscat — it's the one part of the city where the natural environment remains visibly present rather than entirely paved over. Entry is free.
