Ghalya's Museum of Modern Art is a cluster of old Muscat houses arranged to show Omani domestic life before the oil boom. Rooms are furnished with household objects, clothing, and everyday details from the mid-20th century, which makes the museum more intimate than the larger national collections.
There is also a small modern art gallery, but the strongest reason to visit is the glimpse of family life before contemporary Muscat took shape. It pairs well with a walk along Mutrah Corniche.
