The Mall (Shahrah-e-Quaid-e-Azam)

The Mall — formally Shahrah-e-Quaid-e-Azam — is the long boulevard the British laid out south of the Walled City, running from Charing Cross to the General Post Office. It is the colonial spine of Lahore: the Lahore Museum, the Government College, the High Court, the Punjab Assembly, and a clutch of red-brick Gothic-revival public buildings all front onto it.

Today the Mall is congested traffic and tired colonial-era pavements, but it remains the easiest way to take in Lahore's late-Raj architecture. Faletti's Hotel and the Pearl Continental are at the eastern end; the WAPDA House cube on Charing Cross is the visual punctuation in the middle.
