The tomb of the Mughal emperor Jahangir lies in a walled garden complex at Shahdara Bagh, across the Ravi river north-west of the city. It was built by his son Shah Jahan in the years after 1627 and is a low square mausoleum of red sandstone inlaid with white marble — set in a perfect four-square charbagh garden of fountain channels and cypress avenues.
A combined ticket also covers the adjacent Akbari Sarai (a Mughal caravanserai) and the Tomb of Asaf Khan (Jahangir's brother-in-law). The complex is half an hour's drive from the centre and noticeably quieter than the Walled City sights.
