Minar-e-Pakistan

62-metre tower marking Pakistan's founding resolution

A 62-metre tower in Iqbal Park commemorating the 1940 Lahore Resolution — the Muslim League's declaration demanding a separate nation for the Muslims of British India, which would become Pakistan seven years later. Built between 1960 and 1968, with a blend of Mughal and modernist forms. Take the stairs or lift to the observation deck for views over the Old City; the surrounding park is one of the great kite-flying grounds of Lahore.
