The western gate of the Walled City — restored in the 1980s and again more recently. The neighbourhood inside the gate has long been associated with Lahore's intellectual and literary life: Allama Iqbal lived here in his early years, and Faiz Ahmed Faiz, Habib Jalib, and Manto all spent time in the cafes around Bhati Bazaar.
The food here is some of the best in the old city: Murgh Pulao at Babu Hotel, Phaja's Siri Paye (cooked all night, served at dawn), and any number of small kabab shops in the lanes off the bazaar.
