Garosu-gil

Ginkgo-lined boutique street in Sinsa-dong, Gangnam's most walkable stretch of fashion, flagships, and cafes

Garosu-gil — literally "tree-lined street" — is the ginkgo-shaded avenue in Sinsa-dong that gave Gangnam a human-scale shopping district to set against its eight-lane boulevards. Once a quiet row of galleries, it grew into a parade of designer flagships, Korean fashion labels, concept stores, and glass-fronted cafes, and it is at its best in autumn when the ginkgoes turn gold.

The main street has become increasingly corporate, so locals now slip into the Serosu-gil back alleys running off it, where smaller boutiques, dessert spots, and bars keep the original neighbourhood feel. It pairs naturally with an afternoon of people-watching and coffee rather than a fixed itinerary.
