Designed by Uruguayan-American architect Rafael Vinoly and completed in 1999, this 33-story, 132-meter tower is one of Seoul's most distinctive modern landmarks. Its top floors appear to float above the main shaft, a striking structural trick that makes the building instantly recognizable on the Jongno skyline. Located near Jonggak Station, the tower anchors the Jongno business district, one of Seoul's oldest commercial areas that has been a trading hub since the Joseon dynasty. The upper floors house restaurants with panoramic city views. Even if you don't go up, the building is worth noticing as a bold piece of 1990s architecture set against the traditional heart of the city.
