Haengju Sanseong is an earthen mountain fortress on the Han River, remembered for a major Korean victory during the Japanese invasions of the 1590s. The site combines wooded paths, shrines, monuments, and views across the river toward western Seoul.
It is more contemplative than spectacular, but the setting helps explain why the ridge mattered. Go when you want a history-focused walk away from the central palace circuit.
