Lotte World Tower

Lotte World Tower in Songpa-dong dominates the skyline of southeastern Seoul, its tapered glass form visible from much of the city. The 123-floor building contains offices, a hotel, residences, and the Seoul Sky observation deck on floors 117-123. The views from the top are the most expansive in the city — on clear days you can see beyond the urban area to the mountains in all directions.

The adjacent Lotte World Mall is one of the largest shopping centres in Asia, and Lotte World itself (the theme park and amusement complex next door) provides context for the scale of development in this part of Songpa. Jamsil Station (Lines 2 and 8) is the nearest subway stop.

A story
Lotte World Tower reaches 555 metres, making it the tallest building in Korea and the fifth tallest in the world when it opened in 2017. The building's tapered form was designed to reflect the shape of traditional Korean celadon ceramics and calligraphy brushes — an ambitious piece of contextualisation for a supertall skyscraper. The glass floor on the 500th floor observation deck is four inches thick.
