Mosque 'Kokonozit'

This small Ottoman mosque near Tirana's old market quarter dates from 1750 and is one of the few religious buildings in the city to survive communist rule largely intact. During the atheist period it was used as a storehouse and tobacco shop, then returned to worship in 1991.

It is an easy stop with Tanners' Bridge and the New Bazaar. Come for the quiet courtyard and the rare glimpse of pre-20th-century Tirana still standing in the city centre.
