Zogu I Boulevard

Running north from Skanderbeg Square, Zogu I Boulevard is the spine of pre-communist Tirana — laid out in the 1920s during the reign of King Zog, when Italian architects were brought in to give the new capital a monumental axis. The buildings are the best surviving examples of Italian rationalist architecture in the Balkans.

A pleasant fifteen-minute walk to the train station and the new bazaar. The street has been redesigned with wider pavements and bicycle lanes in the last decade.
