The seaside boulevard is Batumi's great public space — seven kilometres of pine-lined promenade along the Black Sea shore, established in 1884. The old and young have been walking its straight wide alleys for over a century. As you approach, you feel the salty breeze mixed with the aroma of centenarian pine trees. Three successive fountains mark the northern end, and French dancing fountains light up the newer section at night. The boulevard also has an aqua park, a Ferris wheel, and plenty of cafes and bungalows. In any season you will find holiday-makers here, enjoying the scenery and the warm Black Sea air.
